An example of these advanced capabilities is the product shown here. In this project, we were contracted by a leading manufacturer of power tools to create a probe, which is used as an upper work content element in one of their product lines. This project represents two of our specialties: tight tolerances and high volumes.
Precision-built for functionality and reliability, rigidly constructed tooling enabled us to create the complex bends, angles, radii, and overforms with outstanding accuracy and repeatability.
Composed of ¼-hard, 310 stainless steel, forming utilized a progressive die process that was carried out on one of our high speed straight side punch presses. At a volume of 15,000 pieces, all requiring tolerances of ±.005”, a comprehensive quality process was required to ensure we met specifications.
This entailed the use of statistical process control methods to monitor our production line and ensure that each component was produced within the tight tolerance requirement. After stamping and quality inspections, which included visual and dimensional testing, we supplied a comprehensive quality control report.
In addition, all parts were batch tumbled to clean and remove machine marks and fines before being packaged and shipped to the customer. By operating with agility while maintaining a sharp focus on quality, we completed this job in only three weeks.
